"If independence is about freedom from an oppresive power, then our wish this Merdeka is that for Malaysians to be free from racism, hatred, ignorance, corruption, self-righteousness, all oppresive and unjust attitudes that tear the fabric of our beautiful society apart. That is what freedom means. The one who is truly free is the one who knows how to serve, how to love, and how to extend a hand of friendship to all. When we are like this, then we know what freedom is." -- Kita Kawan Mah (FB page)

For the benefit of those who don't know, the word "Merdeka" means independence or freedom. And today is Malaysia's 56th independence day! Happy Independence Day Malaysia!

I consider myself really blessed to be born in this country. Plenty of natural resources, hardly any natural disasters, great food (seriously, Malaysian food is the bomb!), amazing people of all races, I mean, what more can a girl ask for right?

Although I don't always wear patriotism on my sleeves, but I really love my country very much and hope that she will become better every year :)

I couldn't find a really national day themed outfit, so I got myself a mini Malaysian flag. Haha. Bralets are also quite popular this season and even though it is a bit out of my comfort zone, I just felt like trying something new :)

By the way! See the brick walls in the background? That (might be) my new room in process and I am very excited about it :DD

Hope all of you are having a great weekend, and to all Malaysians, happy celebrating our beloved country's birthday!

We won't be where we are without you, Malaysia :) <3

Lazy Day

"Today I don't feel like doing anything, I just want to lay in my bed."

Blue and white striped maxi dress from Honey Moon  l  Silver wedges from Vincci  l  4-in-1 bracelet from @tealeavesboutique  l  Bucket bag from Chitty

I'm pretty sure that I'm not the only one that has one (or many) of those lazy days where you just don't want to do anything at all, and sometimes, thinking about what to wear can be quite a pain no matter how much you love fashion or dressing up.

Maxi dresses are perfect on a lazy day when you can't be bothered to crack your head upon thinking about what to wear. Just throw it on and you're good to go! I love this blue and white striped one that I got from my favourite shop, Honey Moon. It is so comfortable and I can look either casual or classy depending on what I accessorize it with.

I also did something different to my hair this time around although I have forgotten to take a picture of it :/ Basically, I just took a piece of hair from each side and twist it to the back of my head, then securing them with a pin. What do you guys think? :)

Also, huge props to my mum who is getting so good at taking photos and don't mind getting more freckles because of me. Thank you ma <3

Oh yes, I also have been named as WhatIWear's Challengers of the Month of July!! Sorry you can't really see the words because I zoomed out to take this screenshot, but you can click here to see the full post :DD

Thank you all for reading. Now I'm gonna continue to lie in my bed for the rest of the day. teehee

Oh Boy

Boy oversized top from @tealeavesboutique  l  'Faith' cap from Singapore  l  Tattered grey pants from Mico Fashion Square  l  Grey wedges from Vincci

Oh boy, my two weeks of holidays are coming to an end. Pass the tissues please, I am ready to weep in despair.

But! On the bright side, the end of this blissful holiday means that I only have 3 months of high school left! *throws confetti*

I had/am having a pretty good holiday. The best part is that I had tons of rest. There's a chinese saying that goes '休息是为了走更长远的路' which means 'The purpose of resting is to venture further'. I personally fully agree with this statement. All work and no play makes Mandy a very angry and cranky girl. Haha.

By the way, I found another nice cafe during these hols! Presenting, De Reve Saloon!  It's a saloon / cafe / nail parlour. Tried their desserts there and I have to say that their brownie and apple crumble are my favourites! They serve homemade thin crust pizza too! Craving for that Hawaiian Tuna pizza so badly right now! The best thing is, the price is affordable and reasonable! Even famous bloggers, Jane Chuck and Nanabwincess went there before :D

Hope that everyone had a great day :) and to all you schooling people, enjoy the last few days of the holidays! I will be back to posting once a week on my blog once school starts next week :) Oh yes, I changed my instagram and twitter to @mandy_minli. Follow me if you're interested in awkward pictures and random statuses :D

Mamee Jonker House (Part 2)

Hi. Meet my new friend, Mamee Monster.

So, in my previous post, I talked about Mamee Jonker House which is located at Jonker Walk. Previously, I introduced the cute souvenirs and products they have there.

Today, I will talk about their Mamee Cafe!

The Mamee Cafe is a very spacious area with bright lighting.

Dear girls, this is a perfect place for you all to *ahem* take pictures (a.k.a camwhore / take selfies). haha

They also have this cute Mamee art on the wall. This art compilation can only be seen here at Mamee Jonker House and no where else!

See? Spacious and bright with mirrors! Told you it's good for taking your group pictures or selfies. haha

Okay okay, I should really start talking about the food that they have in their cafe now.

Mamee Creamy Tom Yam Flavour Noodles

As I said before, Mamee Chef (their lastest product) consist of 3 flavours and Creamy Tom Yam is one of them. The tom yam soup lives up to its name as it is really creamy. :)

 Mamee Mee Goreng with Satay

This is a MUST TRY! Their mee goreng tastes awesome! The most important thing is, it is not very salty. Just perfect.

The small side dish by the side is their homemade achar. Let me tell you, their achar is absolutely, 100% delicious! I swear. This is definitely one of the best (if not the best) achar I have ever tasted. They also do ala carte for their homemade achar, so you can take some home with you!

For every order of their dishes, you will receive one complimentary Cheers soft drink. But if you don't fancy canned drinks, you can always order coffee!

 Cafe Latte

Iced Mocha ,  Iced Latte , Iced Chocolate

And what's a Cafe without cakes right?

They have a various selection of nyonya kuih and cakes.

Green Tea Cake

That was my first time trying green tea flavoured cake and it tastes good. Definitely worth trying :)

Everything is self service there :) One very good thing about the Mamee Cafe is that if you just want some plain water to drink, they actually have a water station where you can freely take drinking water free of charge!

Vintage dress from Vintage Style  l  Tattoo Stockings from Kam Ho  l  Nude heels from Charles and Keith

That pretty much sums up my visit. Once again, huge thanks to Mamee Jonker House for giving me the privilege to have a preview of their awesome place. I had a great time and will most definitely visit again, especially when the Mamee Museum opens!
