Thank You 2013

Can hardly believe that today is the last day of 2013 already! So much has happened this year. I can't deny there were more rough times than smooth sailing ones for me.

But, I am thankful, for both, the good and the bad.

Funny enough, I'm extra thankful for the hard times, because they really taught me a lot. They taught me to be stronger, to be more patient, and to always have faith in The One that holds the future. And after going through so much, I realized I am 10 times more grateful for all the littlest most possible things than I probably would if I didn't go through all that.

I'm thankful for my family for the little things.
My mum who poured me a glass of water and place it in my room when she knew I was talking on the phone with a friend and I might feel thirsty.
My dad, who is a man of few words, hugged me really tight and told me he loves me a lot on my birthday.
My brother who never baked a cake single handedly, offered to bake me a cake. And it was really good.
My sister who lent me a hand when I was organizing my wardrobe.
My cousins who surprised me with a visit.
My extended family for being so understanding.

I am thankful for my friends too, new and old.
The new:
God knows that I couldn't have survived this year without them.
They made me a video for my birthday and I teared up while watching it, feeling super blessed to have met them all. (Thank you guys again, especially the mastermind behind the whole thing)
Thank you all for sticking with me through thick and thin, and for making me laugh even when I don't feel like laughing.
The old:
Just talking to them, even if it isn't face-to-face makes me feel happy. Extra thankful that we are still part of each other's lives even though we don't see each other on a daily basis anymore.
And my best friend, who has been there for me since form 2, thank you <3

P.S: Taking this opportunity to thank everyone who wished me for my birthday and all the gifts too. ily xx

Leaving behind all the bad and the negativity, carrying forward the good and the positives.

Now, instead of making a ton of new year resolutions that I might just give up on after the first day of the year, I decided to just make one. That is to always stay positive no matter what the situation may be.

Because that can pull anyone through anything :)

Just thought I should end this post with a goofy picture. hehe

Happy New Year to all!
Tomorrow is the first blank page of a 365 pages book. Write a good one :)

Lots of love xxx

The last 'one'

Mint Green thin sweater , denim shorts from Honey Moon  l  Friendship bracelets made by my best friend for my birthday <3

Turned 19 on Christmas this year. It's my last 'one'. Geddit? lol. It is also my last 'teen'. As happy as I am that my birthday and Christmas has finally arrived (I have to wait 358 days every year for it), I am also kinda sad that from next year on wards, I'm gonna be a 'two' already!

One question that I get asked almost 90% of the time when people know my birth date is 'How does it feel like to have your birthday on Christmas?' I am not gonna lie, it is amazing.

I know that I'm definitely not the only person out there who has their birthday on Christmas (my church alone has 3!) but it still feels really special. To be born on what's said to be the most magical day of the year, the most festive season, the day to be compulsorily jolly. And how can I forget, sharing the same birthday as Jesus? Awesome beyond words. Wonder if I get to blow out candles with Jesus when I get to Heaven. If I do, I hope they have Instagram up there, because that would be a very Instagram-y worthy moment.

I was actually born two weeks earlier than I was supposed to. According to my mum, she kept playing Christmas songs when she was pregnant with me and kept telling me, "You gotta come out when you hear these songs okay?" And so I did. hehe

I have so many things to talk about Christmas/my birthday. This will be 1 of 3 posts that I will hopefully be able to put up before the new year begins.

Birthday cake baked by my brother!
Reason why I wore slippers because no one wears heels in a park and I wanted to be comfy

Hope you guys had a merry, jolly, wonderful, amazing, blessed Christmas. Because I sure did. And I cannot be more thankful than that.

A Christmas Gift to yourself, from yourself.

"Christmas waves a magic wand over this world, and behold, everything is softer and more beautiful"  -- Norman Vincent Peale
I'm not sure about the rest of you, but I feel that the quote above is so so true. Just the thought of Christmas really makes me feel all bubbly and lovely on the inside. It's like a magical feeling, where I feel like everything is beautiful, everyone is amazing and everything will be alright. If you really think about it, Christmas is the only festive holiday that can make (almost) the whole world excited about it.

I find it hard to believe that Christmas is just 2 days away.

On one hand, I'm all,
on the other hand, I'm like,
"Did someone just swallowed up the first 11 months of this year?"

Time passed way too fast.

One random thing about what I really love about Christmas is the lights. I absolutely adore fairy lights. I think they make everything look very pretty and festive. Although they can be pretty bright, but somehow, I always feel comforted when I look at them. Its weird. I'm weird. I know.

I think I mentioned in my Christmas Wish List post that I've never really believed in Santa Claus before as far as I can remember. I probably wished he was real once or twice, but that's about it. God is more reliable and believable to me at that age (and now).  haha

Up to this point, you're probably wondering what does my title have anything to do with this blog post. Well, the truth is, I've been through quite a lot this past year, a lot of bad, and some good. Because of  all these things that are happening around me, I've been really determined to not let anything get in the way of Christmas, to not let anything ruin that day for me. I kept imagining how awful it would be, if something happened and it will ultimately ruin Christmas and also my birthday. I would be freaking devastated.

But tonight, it struck me. Nobody and nothing can ruin Christmas/my birthday for me, but myself. And this goes to the other 364 days of the year as well.

As much as happiness is a choice, so is anger, and so is sadness. They are all choices. It just depends on which choice you make. Of course, it is hard to stay calm and be truly happy when things aren't all rainbows and sunshine. But, no one promised it will be easy, and no one said that you're going through all that alone either.

So this Christmas, no matter how the day is going to turn out to be like, I will choose to be happy. I will choose to look at the positive side of things. I won't ruin that day for myself and I hope you'll do the same as well.

Take it as...a Christmas gift to yourself, from yourself :)

Have a Merry and Blessed Christmas everyone :) God bless <3

Formal Wear

I woke up at 6.30 in the morning to take this series of photos.
Early mornings = tired face = not many pictures = My sincerest apologies

White ruffled top from Mico Fashion Square l  Black skater skirt from Honey Moon  l  Black tights (don't know where I got them from)  l  Black heels from Barry (Aeon)

I mentioned before that I have an office job now. We have to wear formally on Mondays, this is actually the first time I tried formal wear.

To be honest, I'm not very sure what is counted as formal wear, all I know is that I have to look some-what professional. So, I chose to wear a cliche monotone outfit. Somehow, black and white are most, if not always, the usual choices for formal wear.

And yes, I did wake up half an hour earlier than I usually do just to take photos of my OOTD. (outfit of the day), due to the time constraint, I only ended up with a few photos, but since this outfit is simple, I think it's sufficient enough. And because I was rushing, I forgotten to take my jacket. Thank God the office wasn't that cold that day.

I hope this outfit of mine made me look OL (Office Lady)-ish enough. My friends/colleagues told me that I look like some lawyer who is ready to go into court though. haha. Must be because of the ruffles on the top. Lol.

Now I got to go dig my wardrobe for next Monday's formal wear.

My Christmas Wish List

Christmas is exactly 2 weeks away and I'm looking forward to it very much! (ok la, I admit la, I'm also looking forward to it because it's gonna be my 19th birthday)

I never wrote a letter to Santa saying what I want for Christmas before, not even when I was a little kid. Guess I wasn't so gullible. Or maybe I was just too lazy. The latter reason might be more likely in this case.

Nevertheless, I do a Christmas Wish List every year, be it if they are material things or non-material things. Granted, I don't always get what I wish for. But to me, it's okay! You can't have everything in the world can you? I remember my pastor said before that we should be thankful that we don't have everything, because if we do, we won't have anything else to look forward to. Which I feel is so so true.

With that being said, I'm just going to share my Christmas Wish List (just for material items) this year with you guys :D

1. Silver hoop earrings (photo source)
I have been wanting to get myself a pair of these ever since my last one broke a few years ago but never got around to buy one. A pair of simple sliver hoop earrings can go with ANYTHING no matter what you're wearing. I really must get a pair of these again.

2. Looking for Alaska by John Green (photo source)
Fell in love with John Green novels ever since I read 'The Fault In Our Stars'. I heard that this book of his is amazing as well, so it'll be awesome if I can get my hands on them.

3. Watch (photo source)
My watch broke last year and this picture is the only one I can find that is most similar to my last one. I really want one like this. Simple and can match any outfit at all.

4. Black clutch (photo source)
I feel that sometimes, it is troublesome to bring a handbag around, so, having a black clutch would be nice. Especially for dinners and whatnot. But so far, can't find one that I really like yet.

5. New phone (photo source)
Okay. Now I know for sure that I won't be getting this for Christmas or anytime soon, but it is something that I'want. I'm actually saving up money to get this for myself. Currently, I am only eyeing on the Samsung Note II, but who knows what I'll be eyeing on by the time I saved enough. lol

6. Maybelline Falsies Volume Express Mascara (photo source)
This is a drugstore (eg. Guardian, Watsons..etc) make up product that I really really want to try because I've seen a lot of YouTube beauty gurus raving about this one and they all gave very positive reviews about this.

7. Urban Decay Naked Palette (photo source)
Also have my eye on this since forever. I don't care if it's the Basics Palette, Naked 1, Naked 2, or Naked 3, I just really want to try one of them. I'm not sure if this is available or not in Malaysia, but I saw an Instagram account selling "inspired" ones at half the price (which they claim, looks and feel like the original) but I'm really scared of investing in one since it's not the original.

Okay, so that's all in my list. Haha. Always remember that even though receiving gifts is awesome, but truly giving from the heart feels a thousand times more amazing than that. It doesn't need to be bought with money or wrapped nicely in a box. A smile, a hug, a prayer, a word of encouragement, those count too. You'll never know how much that will make someone's day. Sometimes, the best gifts one can receive are the ones that are free.

So, what are you wishing for (or even giving out) this Christmas? Let me know :D

Corn Field

Purplish blue top from Honey Moon  l  Black leather mini skirt from Mico Fashion Square  l  Owl necklace from Vintage Style  l  Jeffrey Campbells inspired boots from SingxFashion  l  Shades from Calvin Klein

You know what's the one thing I learned about taking outfit shots in a corn field? Is that one should always prepare a pair of slippers if you are gonna wear killer heels.

Not only is the road super rocky that I had to grip my toes (and the person next to me) to balance myself, but I also kept praying that a snake won't come out of no where because God knows that I can't run in those heels.

But isn't the greenish scenery nice though? Felt like I was in Cameron Highlands minus the cold temperature.

By the way, this top is supposed to be really girly and would go really well with a white skirt instead of a black one, but of course, I can't/don't do girly and I haz no white skirt, so this is all I can do for now D:

Ooh I also just started working! It's an office job :D Will talk more about it next time :) Meanwhile, there's a few Behind The Scenes photos below. Enjoy :)

My sister took continuous shots when I turned around and I really love how the photos turned out :)

This is me trying not to step on the creepy crawlies. There were spiders, earthworms, caterpillars, and a whole lot more of bugs that I have not seen before.
My mum, my photographer and location scouter. She was the one that suggested this place :D

P.S: Photos have different lighting due to different cameras. But the last photo here is just plain edited.haha

Hello December (Liebster Blog Award)

Wow, I can't believe it's December already! Time really just flew by this year.

Anyway, since I have already graduated high school, I do have more time on my hands. I am considering posting 2 posts per week. One fashion related like my usual ones, and the other, something random (maybe something about my life, rants, beauty related...etc).

I'm not sure if I can manage it yet though, because I will be starting work tomorrow! Quite excited about it! Mostly because I get to work with my friends. haha. So I shall see how it goes for me and hopefully I will have time to blog :) start off December, I thought I should share more about myself and what better way to do it than to answer some questions that my fellow bloggers have tagged me to do. They all tagged me for the Liebster Blog Award, and since I've already done it once, I won't be tagging anyone. Also, I'll only pick a few questions from each because if I do them all, this post will be way too long.

From: The adorable NaYoung (areumheart)

1. If you had to choose to shop at one store, which one would you choose? (Pick one for make up, one for shoes, one for clothes)
Make up: Errr this is hard since I seldom use much make up, can I pick drugstores? Because they have many brands there to choose from. Haha.
Shoes: Omg this is hard too since I get my shoes from everywhere. I will go for my latest favourite online blog shop SingxFashion just because they have a wide variety and the prices are super affordable.
Clothes: HONEY MOON. no explanation needed.

2. Do you prefer foundation or BB cream?
Definitely BB cream.

3. Do you have any hidden talents?
Well, I can crack my left wrist non-stop just like how people can crack their fingers. My friends get all freaked out about it, but I swear it doesn't hurt. lol

4. Any blogs to recommend?
I assume you would prefer a beauty blog since you blog more about beauty, so, visit my friend, Angeline's blog at Her Vogue Diary :D

From: The stylish Abigail (notadoll)

1. Describe your blog and your style.
My blog is 90% fashion and 10% of everything else. haha.
I have an edgy-rocker-ish type of style I would say. You'll hardly find me in frilly dresses. I'm not so much of a girly girl.

2. How did blogging change your life?
There's always something to do on the weekends. Which will be going out and scout for locations to do photo shoots. Plus, I have a lot of bonding time with my mum (a.k.a the awesome photographer behind 98% of the photos you see on this blog) and this made our relationship stronger :)

3. What type of chocolates do you like the most?
Anything without nuts is fine. I absolutely hate nuts in my chocolates. It ruins the whole chocolate tasting experience for me. (especially almonds, ugh) BUT FERRERO ROCHER IS THE ONE AND ONLY EXCEPTION. *I am very bias when it comes to FR*

4. What would you do if your blog becomes well-known one day?
Keep wondering what did I do to deserve this for the rest of my life.

From: The pretty Rain Chan (rainxdropz)

1. Which country have you been and which is your fav?
I've been to Singapore, Korea, China and Hong Kong. Its a battle between Korea and Singapore. I love these 2 countries for very different reasons. I love Korea for their weather and fashion there, especially during Autumn. And, I love Singapore for the secure feeling I have whenever I'm there (eg: being able to walk in the streets at night without any worries) and their MRTs (I think I have some sort of weird fetish for Singapore MRTs, I always look forward to sitting one whenever I'm there, I will feel that my trip isn't complete if I don't get on one).

 2. How long do you take to post (a blog post)?
Editing photos: 1/2 - 1&1/2  hours depending on the amount of photos I have that day.
Uploading photos: 1/2 - 1&1/2 hours also depending on the amount
Writing and editing: 1/2 - 1 hour
Average: about 2 hours

3. What's your favourite food and drinks?
I do not have any specific favourites for food. I like anything that tastes good. haha. Iced lemon tea will forever be my favourite drink :)

4. What do you want when you're at the age of 50?
I want to be able to travel the world with my loved ones.

That is all! I'm sorry that I took such a long time to finally answer these questions and I'm sorry I can't answer all of them ><

Hope everyone will have a wonderful December. It's the last month of 2013! Make it count :)

P.S: I found out that someone used one of the pictures from my blog . I really hope that the blog owner can put in credits for that picture as it is mine, or if you don't want to, I'd appreciate it if you take it down from your post. I really don't mind people using my photos as long as they give me proper credits for them, and I always make it a point to state the source of the photos I get from others because their owner deserves full credit for them. Taking photos and editing them takes a lot of effort and time, so I would really appreciate the cooperation. Thanks.
